Unless you’re hallucinating, it is now certain that the sun will rise. Finally, a sliver of the sun’s bright disk appears above the horizon and perhaps catches “the Sultan’s turret in a noose of light,” as in the opening verse of the Rubaiyat. The sky begins to lighten, and the posterior probability takes another leap. Your confidence is now a posterior probability, since it’s after seeing some evidence. But now the stars start to fade, so your confidence that the sun does rise on this planet goes up, based on your experience on Earth. It’s not based on counting the number of times the sun has risen on this planet in the past, because you weren’t there to see it rather, it reflects your a priori beliefs about what will happen, based on your general knowledge of the universe. “prior probability that the sun will rise, since it’s prior to seeing any evidence. ![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe it’s time to stop playing by the rules. It's amazing how much we learn about this troubled family in two hours. Little-known actor Jon Foster plays a prep-school intern hired to be Bridges' assistant for the summer. Four-year-old Elle Fanning plays their daughter. In "The Door in the Floor," which is based on the John Irving novel "A Widow for One Year," Jeff Bridges plays a famous writer living in the Hamptons. With the Percy Jackson films, the characters were significantly aged up from their book counterparts, something many fans were not happy with, considering a big part of the series was for Percy to advance in his powers from age 12-16, and yet, he was already sixteen in the first film. This casting, honestly, makes sense as well in terms of the ages of the characters. Known for his breakout role in the very popular Netflix film, The Adam Project, where he played a younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character, Adam, Scobell has broken out as a great young actor, and I have a feeling he’ll be the perfect choice for Percy. We have found our Percy Jackson, who will be played by Walker Scobell. Already, we have a pretty well-rounded Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast, so you’ll be seeing plenty of stars in this new Disney+ show. ![]() ![]() ![]() Originally published from 1932 to 1943, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books are classics of children’s literature, beloved by millions.
